HIGHLIGHTS: Bounce Back Win For T&T Women’s Hockey Team

Wednesday took an L but today they bounce back!

Trinidad and Tobago Womens’ Hockey Team came back from their 16-0 defeat against the United States on Thursday with a strong 2-0 win against Pan American Challenge winners Peru at the Pan American Cup on Friday.

It was a tightly contested battle between the two familiar opponents. The first goal wouldn’t come until late in the 3rd period when Sarah Olton found Tamia Roach in the penalty circle. The pass was a little hot and it deflected off Roach’s attempt to corral it. Luckily Kaitlyn Olton managed to redirect the shot towards goal to put T&T up one.

Coming closer to the end of the game, Peru had an empty net in an attempt to try to get a numbers advantage to find an equalizer. That would end up backfiring after a free hit led to Sarah Olton laying off to free-sprinting Felicia King with one of the easiest goals she’ll ever score.

With the win, it puts T&T 3rd in the table, needing a win against Canada to help improve their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages. Canada and USA play today to decide who will lead the group.

T&T Womens’ Hockey Team will play Canada on Sunday while the Mens’ Team will play Mexico on Saturday.
