World Record holder, Olympian and Pan American Cycling Champion Nicholas Paul has been chosen to take part in the inaugural UCI Track Champions League set to debut in Mallorca, Spain on the 6th November, 2021.
The Track Champions League is a six-round league held in six weeks and is set to feature some of the world’s best in track cycling across sprint, keirin, elimination and scratch events. According to UCI, The new competition comes as part of a restructuring of the track cycling calendar and its part of UCI’s plan to push the sport of Track Cycling to a wider audience and to increase its popularity.
Other riders would be able to qualify for the Track Champions League through the Track Cycling World Championships being held in Roubaix France on October 20th.
Rankings would be decided by points that would be awarded to cyclists from their performances in each race, which would be tallied towards a league table. The overall winner in each of the four categories will be the cyclist who has accumulated the most points at the end of the season.
Let’s hope Nicholas Paul can become the inaugural winner of the Track Champions League by December!
