Kevin Molino and Minnesota United FC aren’t having the best of starts to the 2020 MLS season. Despite making it to the semi-final of the MLS is Back Tournament earlier in the year, the Loons have stumbled out of the gate, losing their first 3 games, and looking to Real Salt Lake to get back to winning ways.
Molino had his chances in the first half such as collecting this nice feed from Robin Lod:
But his first true contribution came in the early stages of the 2nd half where this long ground pass to Chase Gasper help put Minnesota in front:
He would get another crack at the goal but Zac McMath made sure he didn’t.
But the play of the night is probably where Molino beats the Salt Lake backline and had enough time to play with Zac McMath before passing it off to Raheem Edwards who then finishes the play with a pass to midfielder Jacori Hayes to make it 3-0:
Molino would be involved in the last Minnesota United goal, playing the ball to Hassani Dotson, who then avoids a couple defenders, swings it to Robin Lod who bends it around the keeper for the finishing touches on a 4-0 victory for the Loons.
So to review: 2 chances, 2 “hockey” assists, 1 true assist. All in all, a great night for a Carenage footballer.
Molino and the Loons look to start a new streak as they face FC Dallas again Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
